University of Sussex는 세계 대학 순위 200위 안에 드는 세계적 대학으로 영국 내에서도 35위 안에 드는 명문 대학교이다. 10500명 이상의 재학생이 있으며 120여 개의 나라에서 온 국제학생 또한 약 2250 명이 재학중인 국제적인 학교이다. University of Sussex는 해안도시인 브라이튼 중심에서 기차로 8분 거리에 위치하고 있고 런던에서 기차로 1시간 거리로 교통이 편리하다.
Brighton - 인구 약 25만명의 쇼핑, 카페, 레스토랑과 멋진 Beach가 함께 있는 영국 남부 휴양도시이며 작은 어촌 마을로 시작했다가 1750년대부터 런던상류계급 사람들이 휴양을 위해 찾으면서 번성기를 누리게 되었다. 다양한 어학연수 학교들과 대학들이 있어 전체 인구의 10%가 학생으로 구성되어 있어 학생(젊음)의 도시라고도 불리우며 그만큼 다양한 레스토랑과 PUB문화도 발달되어 있다. 특히 여름에는 유럽 각국에서 관광객들이 브라이튼을 찾고 있으며 5월에 열리는 비치페스티벌은 유럽에서도 매우 유명한 축제이다
